Disposal of industrial batteries

Safe and legally compliant disposal and recycling of industrial batteries

take-e-way offers companies in possession of spent industrial batteries uncomplicated and legally compliant collection as well as recycling of industrial batteries. No matter whether you are a producer, importer, distributor, artisan or service company or initial treatment facility as contemplated by the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act: take-e-way is your contact of choice.

In addition, take-e-way takes care of the prescribed verification procedures, documentation obligations as well as the necessary recycling or disposal certificates, as applicable.

Packaging, logistics and recycling depend on which electrochemical battery system you order for collection and disposal.

Common electrochemical systems for industrial batteries

  • Lead (Pb)
  • Nickel cadmium (NiCd)
  • Nickel metal hydride (NiMH)
  • Various lithium ion systems (such as LiFePO4, Li-NCA, Li-NMC)

In addition to the relevant waste legislation, industrial batteries are also subject to hazardous goods legislation. The correct handling of lithium batteries for recycling is extremely important in this respect. Improper handling can lead to short circuits, heat development and even fire or to the escape of substances hazardous to health and the environment.

We take care of the disposal of your industrial batteries

In order to dispose of spent (lithium) batteries properly and safely and to recycle them, your assistance is required. Please go carefully through our questionnaire for a quotation and answer our questions before placing an order.

Kindly submit the following documents to industriebatterien@take-e-way.de:

  • Completed questionnaire for a quotation: Disposal and recycling of industrial batteries
  • Photographs of your industrial batteries and safety data sheets

You can relax knowing that take-e-way will handle all your responsibilities under the Batteries Act as usual. Find all our services related to the Batteries Act right here.

Recycling rate of industrial batteries in the year 2023

Pursuant to Section 15 (3) of the Batteries Act (BattG), distributors of industrial batteries must submit annual documentation to the Federal Environment Agency on taking back and recycling spent batteries. Producers of industrial batteries or their authorised representatives may submit documentation jointly on behalf of a number of distributors.

The take-e-way affiliated producers and distributors achieved a recycling rate of 100% last year.
