New registration obligation for packaging in Spain

The Spanish packaging law obliges producers to register their packaging. Distributors from abroad must also register through an authorised representative if they sell packaged products in Spain.

WEEE Germany: Backpacks, bags and satchels with firmly attached lamps need to be registered according to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)

For backpacks, bags and satchels which are equipped with firmly attached lamps an ElektroG registration (WEEE Germany) is required.

For backpacks, bags and satchels which are equipped with firmly attached lamps for a better visibility of the carrier an ElektroG registration (WEEE Germany) of the device type “Small household appliances for use in private households” is required.

With a view to the judgement of the administrative court (Verwaltungsgericht) in Ansbach (AN 11 K 09.00812), according to which this product is regarded as “extended household area”, the present administration practice of the Foundation EAR is being adapted.
