Smart TV providers must make programmes easy to find

The rules on easy location slots also apply to radio and Internet offerings (media libraries). User interface providers should implement this within six months.

As Channel Observer reported, providers of TVs with internet access in Germany will in future be required to make certain TV programmes easy to find on their overview pages. The backdrop to this is that offerings with social added value should be easily accessible for viewers. The federal states had decided this by virtue of a state treaty. The responsible media regulators published a list of recommendations for the arrangement of public and private programmes on user interfaces.

An excerpt from the recommended sorting of moving image offers can be found at Channel Observer. The rules on easy location slots also apply to radio and Internet offerings (media libraries). User interface providers should implement this within six months. The published total list of private providers includes about 300 channels, from local radio programmes to private and public TV stations.

The example shows that optimal legal monitoring is necessary as an existential risk precaution in order to protect you under product law. If you have any questions, the trade-e-bility advisory team will be happy to help you via beratung@trade-e-bility.de or +49/40/75068730-0.
