REACh / POP: Inspectors are to test consumer products for hazardous substances

In this way, each product can be controlled for multiple REACh or POP requirements, extending the scope of controls and reinforcing the protection of EU citizen and the environment.

As the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) already reported on 1 July 2020, the EU has agreed for 2022 to increasingly check consumer products for harmful substances and compliance with REACh legislation.

Among other things, the REACh obligations for substances in articles, which require that information on substances of very high concern (SVHC) in products must be passed on in the supply chain, will also be examined. It is also examined whether products comply with the restrictions on the presence of persistent organic pollutants under the POP Regulation.

These obligations under REACh and POPs are being reviewed for specific types of materials such as rubber, plastics or textiles. In this way, each product can be controlled for multiple REACh or POP requirements, extending the scope of controls and reinforcing the protection of EU citizen and the environment.

Are you prepared? trade-e-bility will be pleased to support you with a risk-oriented review of your product with regard to pollutants as well as compliance with supply chain obligations.

If you happen to have any questions in this regard, our team of consultants will be glad to assist you. Please call +49/40/75068730-0.
