Radioactive children’s amulets discovered in the Netherlands

In December, the Dutch authorities issued a warning via the EU’s Safety Gate about a number of amulets and necklaces that emit radioactive radiation. The authorities ordered the relevant products to be withdrawn from the market by the responsible parties.

In December, the Dutch authorities issued a warning via the EU’s Safety Gate about a number of amulets and necklaces that emit radioactive radiation. The products are advertised as “magnetizing” or “energetically charging” and some of them are also to be used on children. They are considered to pose significant health hazards. The authorities ordered the relevant products to be withdrawn from the market by the responsible parties.

The EU Safety Gate (formerly: RAPEX) publishes weekly lists of products that are not in conformity with the market in the EU and that pose significant health and environmental risks.

Manufacturers, importers or fulfilment service providers are obliged to monitor their own and similar products on the market for risks. The EU Safety Gate is one option available to do so.
