On 5 December 2019, the EU published Regulations 2019/2015 (energy consumption labelling of luminaires) and 2019/2020 (ecodesign requirements for luminaires and separate control gear).
The company take-e-way has occasion to refer to the EPREL database (European Product Registry for Energy Labelling) and the obligations and tasks of manufacturers under Regulation 2017/1369 (establishing a framework for energy consumption labelling). This Regulation continues to govern the registration obligations of manufacturers of products of relevance to energy consumption, which also include light sources, i.e. lamps.
Already since 1 January 2019, manufacturers of new products or importers of products of relevance to energy consumption have been required to register them in the product database before placing them on the EU market. Suppliers were required to enter products placed on the market between 1 August 2017 and 1 January 2019 in the database by 30 June 2019. Only products that were placed on the market prior to 1 August 2017 and not after that date could be voluntarily deposited and thus documented in the process.
The new registration dates for 2021 set out in Regulation 2019/2015 on EPREL do not exempt from the obligations of existing EPREL registration until that time. Please be so kind as to check again carefully whether all your energy consumption-related products have been recorded in EPREL. Should you require any assistance in this regards, trade-e-bility GmbH can assist you with all the necessary preparatory work and also take care of registration in the EPREL database on your behalf. Please do not hesitate to call trade-e-bility on +49/40/75068730-0 or send an e-mail message to beratung@trade-e-bility.de.
For the second quarter of 2020, access is expected to be possible for end consumers to the public section of EPREL. The market supervisory authorities will then be able at the very latest to have access to the non-public section of the database. Initial test access instances have been made. “Private” market supervisors such as unfair practices watchdogs can check in the simplest manner, namely as final consumers, whether a product can at least be found in the public section. So please make sure that all your energy-related products are correctly and comprehensively registered. For general questions on the subject of EPREL, Ms Katharina Ostermann from take-e-way will be pleased to assist you. Phone +49/40/750687-141 or send an e-mail message to beratung@take-e-way.de.
