New registration obligation for packaging in Spain

The Spanish packaging law obliges producers to register their packaging. Distributors from abroad must also register through an authorised representative if they sell packaged products in Spain.

Obligations for producers of transport packaging

In addition to registration, which had to be completed by 1 July 2022, distributors of transport packaging have further obligations, which we have compiled for you here.

The obligations of producers and distributors to take back and recycle arise from Section 15 VerpackG. In addition to registration, which had to be completed by 1 July 2022, distributors of transport packaging have other obligations, namely:

  • (mandatory registration)
  • take-back obligation
  • Reporting obligation
  • Obligation to provide proof
