New EU Batteries Regulation adopted

The Regulation was published in the Official Journal of the EU on 28/07/2023 and formally enters into force 20 days later on 17/08/2023.

On 14 June 2023, Parliament adopted the EU Batteries Regulation, new legislation for the design, manufacture and recycling of all batteries sold in the EU (take-e-way informed).

On 28.07.2023, the regulation was published in the Official Journal of the EU and formally enters into force 20 days later, i.e. on 17.08.2023. With a deadline of 6 months, implementation will take place from 18.02.2024; in some cases, significantly longer transition periods apply.
Unlike the previous Battery Directive, the new provisions of a regulation apply directly in all EU member states without further adjustments.
