New ecodesign framework regulation in preparation

Possible product target groups include electronic goods, textiles, furniture, steel, cement and chemicals. Manufacturers or importers are advised to follow the further specification of the new framework regulation or actively send feedback to the Commission by 07 June 2022.

The EU Commission is working on a new framework regulation on the ecodesign of products. Unlike the current Directive 2009/125/EC, additional aspects such as the possibility of repair, upgrading, recycling and reusability are to be included in ecodesign product assessments. The presence of harmful chemicals is also to be considered. The framework regulation will define the key data for preparation of product-specific implementing regulations. Possible product target groups include electronic goods, textiles, furniture, steel, cement and chemicals. The proposal for this regulation can be here downloaded here in English.

Economic operators responsible for products, such as manufacturers or importers are advised to follow the further specification of the new framework regulation or actively send feedback to the Commission here by 7 June 2022. To this end, an EU login is required or must be created.
