Lamps, luminaires and light sources: Replacing old energy labels until March 2023

The EU wants all old enegery labels replaced by the end of the transition period of 18 months, i.e. March 2023. Trade-e-bility GmbH can create the new label and register the product in the EPREL database for you.

The European commision issued a new regulation on December 5th, 2019, in which the energy labelling of light sources was specified and the old definitions were repealed. The new regulation carries the number (EU) 2019/2015.

According to this regulation, starting from December 25, 2019, luminaires - devices meant to carry illuminants - are no longer supposed to be marked with an energy label.

Also, the term "light source" was redefined; every luminaire with a permanently integrated light source is now considered to be a lamp and needs to bear the respective energy label.

Although the continued provision of the old energy label does not currently pose any legal issues, we do advise to cover or remove it.

The EU wants all old enegery labels replaced by the end of the transition period of 18 months, i.e. March 2023.

Starting from May 2021, entering the product's technical parameters into the product database will be mandatory.

Creating your new energy label in compliance with the new EPREL database, identifying the energy class of your product and registering it with EPREL is a service TMK can provide for you.
To do this, all we need is a relating test report provided by a laboratory. If you need this test, trade-e-bility GmbH will also be pleased to assist you. Please do not hesitate to call us on +49/40/75068730-0 or send an e-mail message to beratung@trade-e-bility.de.
