In July, a new law came into force in Greece concerning producers of packaging. In terms of regulations for packaging producers, Law 4819/2021 replaces the previous Law 2939/2001 from 2001.
The Greek take-back system for packaging has confirmed that the main changes concern the extended producer responsibility of distance sellers and online platforms.
How are producers affected by the new law?
According to L. 4819/2021 Art. 84 Par. 2, non-Greek distance sellers are now also obliged to register as producers of packaging with the Greek take-back system. Without a registered office in Greece, an authorised representative must be appointed for this purpose.
Do I have to register my company?
