Customs sends defective masks back to Turkey

Unfortunately, mistakes are made too often in labelling products, resulting in a suspension of imports. What is so tragic about this is that mislabelling does not necessarily indicate that the products are bad. This is where ignorance or negligence of the importer results in high costs due to additional warehousing, rework and missed deadlines.

Our partner VFI (German Importers) has notified take-e-way that according to dpa, officials of the Albstadt customs office in Baden-Württemberg/Germany stopped the import of 966,000 FFP2 masks and 864,000 disposable gloves. Evidently the merchandise had been imported from Turkey in three vans and one truck. An inspection revealed that the protective equipment was not marketable and thus prohibited from being sold. Amongst other things, the CE markings were invalid and warnings are reported to have been missing. The packaging of the masks for children was marked “Not recommended for children”. The merchandise is reported to have been exported back to Turkey.
