CSDDD vote postponed

Member states such as Italy and several small EU countries have voiced clear criticism and widespread scepticism. It is unclear when the member states will vote again on the EU Supply Chain Directive.

As reported by tagesschau.de, the final vote on the EU supply chain law (CSDDD/CS3D) in the Council of the EU member states has been postponed at short notice. This was announced by the Belgian Council Presidency. The reasons include Germany's abstention due to opposition from the FDP (take-e-way reported on the letter from the FDP-led ministries on "Self-strangulation through CSDDD"). This would not have secured the necessary majority among the member states.

Other member states, such as Italy and several small EU countries, have also voiced clear criticism and widespread scepticism. It is unclear when the member states will vote again on the EU Supply Chain Directive. Due to the postponement, it is also questionable whether the directive will be adopted before the European elections at the beginning of June.
