As of 1 January 2022, information must be enclosed with the device in written form

All appliances for use in private households covered by the Act, which a manufacturer has in its possession and offers for sale from 1 January 2022 must be issued with written information in accordance with the new Section 18 (4) ElektroG. take-e-way makes manufacturer information available pursuant to Section 18 (4) ElektroG3.

EPREL: Dealers will be prosecuted without a new label

Our partner law firm IT Recht Kanzlei reports that if a supplier – contrary to an actual obligation – does not provide new labels and product data sheets, distributors can be asked to cease and desist and be admonished if they have not received the necessary support from the supplier due to the latter's refusal and fail to implement the new labelling for products subject to mandatory labelling.

EPREL: Sell-off of devices without energy label

The federal retail association Bundesverband Technik des Einzelhandels e.V. (BVT) has issued a reminder that as of 2 December 2021, electrical appliances – without the new EU energy label – may no longer be sold. If the appliance is too old and the manufacturer cannot provide you with a new EU energy label on request, you should sell it off quickly, according to a BVT recommendation.
